01 — About

An engineer formed on site, not just in software.

I am a civil engineer with two years of hands-on experience in seismic retrofitting, structural assessment and site supervision at Earthquake Safety Solutions, Kathmandu — currently supervising the retrofit of a diplomatic residence. I am now seeking graduate research opportunities in earthquake and structural engineering.

In detail: I currently supervise the seismic retrofit of an unreinforced masonry residence at a diplomatic compound — converting it to reinforced masonry through splints and bandages at critical structural locations. My work spans the full project cycle: detailed cost estimates and Bills of Quantities, checking and verifying contractor bills, construction management of residential and commercial buildings, and Total Station surveys of land, buildings and roads.

On existing structures I run non-destructive assessments — UPV, rebound hammer, rebar scanning, in-situ masonry shear and penetrometer testing. In 2023 I served as a volunteer field assessor after the M6.3 Bajhang earthquake, where field experience with Nepal's vulnerable building stock now drives my interest in research with real-world impact.

03 — Work Experience

Two years at Earthquake Safety Solutions.

From the estimation desk to supervising retrofits at diplomatic compounds.

OCT 2025 — PRESENT
  • Supervising the seismic retrofit of a URM load-bearing diplomatic residence — reinforcement splints and bandages converting the structure to reinforced masonry.
  • Day-to-day site coordination, MS Project schedule tracking, compliance with approved drawings, QA/QC checks and billing certification.
  • Detailed structural assessment of a URM ambassadorial residence: in-situ masonry shear testing, penetrometer testing, HILTI rebar scanning.
MAY 2024 — OCT 2025
  • Prepared cost estimates and Bills of Quantities for retrofitting and construction projects; checked and verified contractor BOQs and running bills; built construction schedules in MS Project.
  • Site engineering support for an RC residential retrofit: column jacketing, new shear walls, CFRP sheet application on beams.
  • NDT programs on existing structures; ETABS modelling on office projects; Total Station land surveys and construction layout.
OCT 2023
  • Rapid visual screening of damaged structures across Jayaprithvi and Thalara municipalities after the M6.3 earthquake.
  • Documented damage patterns across stone masonry, brick masonry and RC-frame typologies; collaborated with local government on disaster-risk-reduction measures.

Laboratory Direct Shear testing investigated as a practical method for determining foundation bearing capacity for small-scale projects. Shear strength parameters at optimum moisture content were applied through Terzaghi's equation to compare foundation requirements at two sites in Nepal.
